  Overview

The Orange County Junior Marksmen shooting club was started to promote a healthy respect for firearms and develop superior safety and marksmanship skills in the youth of Orange County.  The coaching staff is particularly attuned to the education of youth, but encourages shooters of all ages who wish to learn marksmanship.

Participants of all ages receive training and coaching from NRA-certified instructors and coaches and earn awards for demonstration of increasing shooting skills as they progress through the program.  Competitions against other clubs will be a part of each participant’s program as his or her proficiency increases.  Participants and the parents of youth participants are encouraged to participate in all aspects of club activities, including youth positions, and executive board positions (all executive board positions are filled by adults due to legal liability).

Participants shoot .22 caliber rimfire aperture-sighted target-grade rifles at NRA-certified smallbore bullseye targets at a range of 50 feet under the strict supervision of coaches and instructors.  Club shooting equipment and accessories, including rifles, are available free of charge during each shooting session for those who do not currently own such equipment.

Each of our youth goes through classroom training before joining the shooting line.  This helps to ensure the safety of our students in one of the safest sports in the world.
